Jhansi Museum is one of the iconic museums of India constructed around the late 19th century that helps us to track down the roots of Indian history of colonial India. Jhansi Museum, also known as the UP Government museum, is known to have artefacts since the 4th century BC along with exquisite artworks of pre-modern India. Dedicated to Rani Lakshmi Bai, this museum not only illustrates the history of Jhansi but also throws light on the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Over the years, Jhansi museum has become one of the major tourist attractions in Uttar Pradesh owing to the rich cultural heritage of India, particularly Jhansi. Panchatantra Park is an animal-themed park mainly for children in Jhansi based on the ‘Panchatantra’ book by Vishnu Sharma. Apart from several animal-themed slides for the children, this park also has a jogging track for adults. The park was developed by the Jhansi Development Authority on a vast stretch of a green patch in the middle of the city of Jhansi mainly for the children with exciting Panchatantra themed animal statues. Over the years, this has not only been an exciting spot for children but also adults for morning and evening walks where they can enjoy a soothing pollution-free environment, away from the hustle-bustle of the city. Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary located in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, is situated on the banks of the river Betwa and river Jamini. Situated at a distance of 4.2 km from Orchha city and 19.2 km from Jhansi, the Sanctuary is home to endangered species like tigers and leopards. The sanctuary is a special treat for bird watchers as the sanctuary is home to over 200 species of Indian as well as migratory birds. Birds like peafowls, peacocks, swans and many more can be observed in the forest. Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary is the best place for nature’s retreat. Rani Lakshmi Bai Park located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh is set in the foothills of Jhansi Fort and is interconnected to Maithili Sharan Gupta Park. At the centre of the park there is a magnificent bronze statue of Rani Lakshmi Bai riding her horse, her sword raised and her adopted son Anand Rao, sitting behind her. Rani Lakshmi Bai Park is adorned with beautiful lush green trees, jogging tracks, slides, and swings for children to play. Parichha Dam, a human-made reservoir is built on the Jhansi-Kanpur Highway in the town of Parichha. The dam is built on the Betwa River and its reservoir, which is a placid stretch of water and runs to Notghat Bridge. It is popular amongst the local for water sports facilities and boating. Being the primary source of water for drinking and agricultural purposes of Jhansi, it also has a thermal plant which generates 1149 MW power. Constructed by the British between 1881 to 1886, the dam still stands and serves many facilities to the people of Jhansi. The major activities and water sports which the dam offers is boating and fishing. Boating in the Betwa River gives a captivating view of the scenic beauty of the place and a soothing experience along with a feeling of being in nature. Fishing is also one of the famous activities at the Parichha dam and Betwa River. You can always find many people sitting on the banks of the river with the fishing rod in their hand.
